Book Blog Tour: Two Roads Home by Deborah Raney

The Whitman family is around again in this second novel in the Chicory Inn series, which focuses on Jesse and Corrine Pennington, son-in-law and daughter of Grant and Audrey Whitman. The story starts off rocky-sounding. Jesse and Corrine are faced with dealing with some challenges in their marriage, which mostly come from a coworker. Some strange things begin to happen to them and their children after the challenges of Jesse being accused of harassment. In light of the challenges, Jesse and Audrey may be able to find something good that comes from it, which could either bring them closer together or tear them apart.

I liked to learn about another part of the Whitman family through Jesse and Corrine Pennington's life, after reading the first book in this series about another part of their family. The two families I have read about so far were worlds apart it seemed. I liked coming across Landyn and Chase in this story also; it seemed like I already knew them from the previous story.

I liked seeing Jesse and Corrine work together with the challenges they faced in this story, no matter how severe they were. I understand that they were probably able to do that because of honesty and trust for each other. I also liked to see how someone that was hurt deeply by another tried to develop compassion towards that person that wasn't so nice to them, to look deeper inside of her to try to understand why she acted as she did. I also liked the ending, which might surprise some readers.

I love the title of this book; it shows that there is more than one way to our destination and that we don't always have to take the same route. In my opinion, this book can be read as a stand alone novel even though it is a part of a series.

My review= 5 out of 5 stars

I received this book free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Two Roads Home (Abingdon Press, June 2015)

What if it's too late for dreams to come true?

Minor---but-nagging setbacks continue to sour Grant and Audrey Whitman's initiation into the world of innkeeping, but larger challenges brew when an innocent flirtation leads to big trouble for the Whitmans' son-in-law, Jesse. Jesse Pennington's friendly, outgoing personality has always served him well, especially in a career that has earned him and his wife Corinne a very comfortable lifestyle. But Corinne and Jesse are both restless---and for similar reasons, if only they could share those with each other. Instead, too many business trips and trumped-up charges of harassment from a disgruntled coworker threaten their marriage and possibly put their three precious daughters at risk.

With their life in disarray, God is tugging at their hearts to pursue other dreams. Can Corinne and Jesse pick up the pieces of what was once a wonderful life before it all crumbles beneath them?
