Book Review: If You Were Me and Lived in...Kenya by Carole P. Roman

*****This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.*****

If You Were Me And Lived in...Kenya is another great children's book in the Child's Introduction to Cultures Around the World series by Carole P. Roman! The book starts off by showing a boy and a girl from Kenya pointing to where Kenya is on the globe and explains further about what part of the world it is located in. It then gives some important facts about what life is like for children that live in Kenya. It follows the same topics as the other books in the series, explaining what currency is called, a popular tourist attraction, a popular sport, what their word for school is, etc.  The pronunciation guide in the back of the book shows words from the Kenyan language in order as they appear in the story.

I believe children will notice a lot of differences in the way life is in Kenya for children that live there but I also believe they will be able to notice some similarities in the way they live life and have fun there, compared to children in America. For instance, the children call to their mothers and fathers just like children in America do. They just call them something different when they need them, and they play a sport in kind of the same way that a similar sport is played in America.

I believe that this book and all the other books in this series plant seeds to help children see the differences with people in other cultures, which I believe will help them to be more loving and kind when they come across children (and possibly adults) of other cultures in the future.

My review= 5 out of 5 stars

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
