Book Review: A Flag For The Flying Dragon by Carole P. Roman, Illustrated by Bonnie Lemaire

roman - flag for the flying dragon
*****This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.*****

Captain No Beard and the crew of the Flying Dragon have a problem to solve. Their newest member Zachary needs a job to do on the ship. He is so young though, and some of the members of the ship think he will not be helpful. It is a rule that everybody has to be included, and Captain No Beard is determined to keep trying to find something for him to do. Captain No Beard tries to find the solution...maybe Zachary can help someone else, or maybe he can have his very own task to accomplish.

I loved that the Flying Dragon crew had a rule that everybody has to be included and given something to do. Even though Zachary was the youngest human member of the crew, there was still something important he was given to do. Captain No Beard found something he could do that was equally as important as everybody else was doing...because every job is important when you work as a team. I also loved how this book showed that when someone is given a task that doesn't match them that it can be disastrous and/or cause imbalance to the whole team, and that is important to find something for each team member to do that matches their gifts and talents.

I have enjoyed reading and reviewing every book in this series so far! I can imagine children being excited to learn what happens next with the Flying Dragon crew as new books are introduced to this series.
