Book Review: Seedlings: Fables from the Forest by C.D. Baker

*****This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.*****

Seedlings: Fables from the Forest is recommended for children ages 4-8. There are five short stories about trees in the forest that have ways of speaking to each other. It helps young minds come alive to understanding the purpose of trees, whether it’s to provide shade, carry fruit, or other purposes. It also teaches children about Biblical morals, providing a set of questions and a Bible verse at the end of each short story. Color pictures are included in various places in the book.

I enjoyed imaging what trees might be going through in their development while reading this book, whether it is to take up a lot of space with their roots, or have access to more sunlight than other trees.  It was interesting to be reminded that if trees don’t survive or are dying they are still useable in some ways. I can imagine children continuously pulling this book off shelves in many different places, and want the whole book read to them in some cases. I can also imagine teachers possibly pulling the book out to read to children in sections, since there are five fables (short stories) included.

My review = 5 out of 5 stars
