Book Review: Charlie the Cavalier Busy Book by Lisa Rusczyk, illustrated by Magdalena Takac

*****This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.*****

Charlie the Cavalier Busy Book is a book full of activities, such as nursery rhymes, games, jokes, a maze, and a puzzle to spot differences in two pictures. The jokes are dog jokes. The games offer some interaction, and there are some activities that are best used with video chatting, but will probably be successful without using it also. The nursery rhymes are well-known and can add a lot of joy while keeping children busy with following along with this book. There is also a Charlie the Cavalier puppet that adds a lot more fun with using this busy book.

The activities from this book can be added into curriculum during any school day, or a combination of days. I can imagine teachers leading the activities in this book; it didn’t seem like a book that children would complete as busy work. I like how there were familiar nursery rhymes, which adds something that children probably already know.

Some of the activities are sit down activities and some of them are activities I can imagine children standing and jumping up and down doing, providing a good balance in that area as well. I can imagine children getting excited about how much fun they will have with Charlie the Cavalier on one big fun day, or many days of fun put together!

My rating = 5 out of 5 stars

Disclosure of Material Connection: Lisa Rusczyk provided a free e-book for me in exchange for an honest review.
