Book Review: The Treasure of Snake Island: A Captain No Beard Story by Carole P. Roman

*****This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.*****

The crew aboard a ship is admiring the beautiful colors of the sky and they get into a discussion about when the sky is red it means different things, such as when the sky is red during the morning versus during the night. One of the animals asks another of the animals on board how she knows that information and they get into another discussion about something important, that pretty much lays an outline for the rest of the book. Will the warning that is made about the sky being red in the morning come true? They head to Snake Island, a place that they hear there is a treasure at, which Hallie (one of the human passengers) is not happy about because she dislikes snakes. But will the treasure be worth it?

I loved that there were people and animals on the ship and that they were able to appreciate the colors of the sky, but then also were warned when the sky turned red at a certain point of the day. This book was interesting to me because after they fought a battle while they were on the water they searched for the hidden treasure together; it showed me that when you pull together as a team that you will often find what you are looking for. I was happy to learn that the treasure they found was something that wouldn’t just benefit one person, but all of them. It was a treasure that could be shared by the whole crew!

My review = 5 out of 5 stars
