Book Blog Tour and Contest Information: Sweet Sanctuary by Kim Vogel Sawyer

My Review of Sweet Sanctuary:

Micah Hatcher is a doctor who takes care of people that can’t afford medical care and loves them as they are. He is caught off guard when he receives a letter from Lydia Eldredge’s father, implying that he is the father of her son Nicky. He has no idea why he is being accused of fathering her child and travels to their residence to set them straight, even though it’s not easy to leave a medical practice so spontaneously. Micah runs into Nicky first when he arrives at their residence and notices how special the boy is within minutes of meeting him. Lydia is surprised to see Micah when he gets there and explains to him how and why Nicky came into her life. She is not the only one who is surprised though when Micah is asked something that he never thought that he would be asked.

I really liked Micah and Lydia’s caring hearts for people who were placed in their lives, often without hesitation. I especially liked how they helped some Jewish children who were homeless. Micah helped Lydia to trust in God more than she understood how to, this shows that people often need support when they are going through difficulties, and that God will give people the words to say to help others when they need to hear them. When a man with a drug addiction is placed in their lives they decide to treat him with Jesus’ love, instead of leaving him to self-destruct. At first they think that the act of kindness will turn on them and the man will decide to do something mean in return; they decide to trust God with the outcome though and they are surprised about how things turn out.

I would not have been able to guess from looking at the book cover that this novel was going to be suspenseful at times, which I was glad about because that’s how people’s lives sometimes become…things are sometimes going along very smoothly and then something tragic happens and there are mysteries to be solved. I believe since there are elements of suspense included that this novel will potentially reach a much wider audience.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a free copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity Group. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

More About Sweet Sanctuary: A Story of Hope and Love Set Against the Backdrop of World War II:

Lydia Eldredge longs to provide sanctuary for her young son, Nicky. But a constant threat comes from Nicky's drug-addicted father, who wants the boy and seems willing to do whatever it takes to get him.

When Lydia and Micah's paths cross, they are suddenly wrapped up in each other's callings. Together, they seek a refuge of safety-for Nicky, for themselves, and for the needy people God puts into their lives. Amid turmoil and discord, can hope and love prevail?
