Book Blog Tour and Contest Information: Tales of the Defended Ones by Beth Guckenberger

*****This review is meant for parents, teachers, and other people that work with children to read.*****

Beth Guckenberger shares some amazing stories in this book about children who were orphaned and shows how their Storyweaver (God, their Defender) brought them together with the families he wanted them to be with. She has a heart for children who have become orphans and is a part of a ministry to help them. The stories included in this book are about such issues as child slavery, parental addictions, poverty, etc. As the Storyweaver does his work in these beautiful children’s lives they are often placed with permanent adoptive families or in group settings to help them be restored hopefully with their real families one day.

I loved how Beth described how God started weaving the stories of bringing families to the orphaned children in this book, long before anybody could ever imagine in some cases. He stirs people's hearts for adoption and/or foster care and then takes them through steps (often many steps) to reach the final step of adopting or fostering the child or children he wants them to be with. I had not thought much about child slavery before I read this book. Beth prompted me to ask myself the same type of question that she asked herself on page 149, about how many slaves does it take to make items that I may enjoy on an everyday basis? This world is a hard place to live in for orphaned children and only God can work things out so these children are put into the right hands if their original families cannot take care of them; this truly shows me how deeply God loves orphans.

I recommend this book to people who are thinking of adopting or fostering a child (or children), people who have already adopted a child, and for anybody else who has an interest in the topic of adoption or foster care and being a part of an orphan, adopted, or foster child’s life.

Disclosure of material connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity Group for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
