Book Blog Tour: Revelation: A Discover Together Bible Study by Sue Edwards

My Review of Revelation:
Revelation by Sue Edwards is A Discover Together Bible Study that takes readers/Bible students through Revelation chapters 1-3, 21, and 22. It breaks down what Jesus’ message was to each congregation and shows patterns of how he spoke to them, such as who the letters were to, different ways to describe himself to the congregations, praises, flaws, consequences, calls, and rewards. Not every congregation had the same message list because not every single one of them had flaws, etc. and some needed other messages like solutions to be given. It also reveals some Scriptures about Jesus saying he is coming soon, and talks about the New Heavens and the New Earth.

I was able to complete this whole Bible study, leaving a few answers to some questions blank that I couldn’t think of an answer for. It took me deep into the chapters in Revelation that it covered. I understood that God gave the revelation in these chapters to Jesus and he sent it through his angel to John, his servant (Revelation 1:1). I have read the letters to the congregations before but this study brought me down deeper into what Jesus was saying to them, and how he offered solutions on how to fix problems. If they weren’t willing to fix their problems within the congregations they were told what the consequences would be. The style that was used to relate Jesus’ message seemed very well broken down to me, in fact I never knew it could be/was broken down the same way for each congregation until I read this study.  What I read in Revelation 3:7 got my attention the most while progressing through this study, about how Jesus is one who opens a door that no one can shut, and shuts a door that no one can open. At some point in the past I picked up the open and shut door thoughts (how Jesus does that) but I don’t remember running into it in Scripture until I took part in this study.

This study seems to be written for small groups but it worked well for me to use it individually as well. I recommend it for both small groups and individuals who need some quiet time with the Lord on their own.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity Group for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
