Book Blog Tour: A Promise to Love by Serena B. Miller

Joshua Hunter becomes a widower when his wife dies unexpectantly. At first it is unknown what caused her death. Since he has no one to take care of his children he is told by the judge that he needs to give them up to his late wife's parents. When the decision is announced by the judge something uncommon happens and the solution about whether he keeps his children or not is rethought. He can keep his children as long as he agrees to marry Ingrid Larsen who will take care of his children and his household. The problem is that he doesn't love Ingrid and he doesn't know if he ever will. The story takes the readers through a lot of twists and turns after their marriage and closes with an unexpected ending.

I saw Ingrid as an unselfish woman, taking on a family with many children and loving them as if they were her own. This story helped me to realize that in some cases people can love children as much or more than a real parent (or parents) sometimes can, which is often how the Hunter children felt when comparing their replacement mother to their real mother. This story helped me to realize that the ability to become a replacement parent(s) is a matter of the heart, most likely coming from God to help those parents love the children the way he wants them to, in some cases like they are their own.

I had a hard time putting this book down at times. I am confident it will touch a lot of people.
