Book Blog Tour and Contest Information: Queen of the Waves by Janice Thompson

My Review of Queen of the Waves:

Queen of the Waves is a fictional story that takes readers back in time to the tragic sinking of the Titanic. It focuses on the story of Tessa Bowen who is persuaded to switch identities with her brother's girlfriend Jacqueline Abingdon so they can run off together and start a new life. As Tessa gets to know a man, whom she meets onboard the Titanic she feels more and more like a fraud since she is disguising who she really is. She thinks it is a sin, feels convicted, and wonders if she can come clean with him in her own way and time.

I was reminded of the motion picture Titanic as I was reading this story. A lot of the events that happened in this story seemed to match a lot the events described in the motion picture, so that makes me believe that the details were well researched. I felt pretty much the same bad feeling when the Titanic started to sink in this story as I did in the motion picture. My heart ached when I read about people trying to find a life boat or find some other way to survive, especially when I read how a woman dropped her baby into a boat probably realizing she may never see her baby again. It also helps me realize that our days are numbered on this earth and we never know when our time will be up and that we should try to make the most out of each and every day that God gives us.

This story is a great way for people to learn more about the tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity Group for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

More About the Book:

When pampered Jacqueline Abington secretly elopes with the family gardener, she asks another woman to take her place on the much anticipated maiden voyage of the Titanic. Tessa Bowen hails from a poor corner of London but has been granted the opportunity of a lifetime—a ticket to sail to America aboard a famed vessel. But there’s a catch: she must assume Jacqueline’s identity. For the first time in her life, Tessa stays in luxurious quarters, dresses in elegant gowns, and dines with prestigious people. Then a wealthy American man takes an interest in her, and Tessa struggles to keep up the ruse as she begins falling for him. When tragedy strikes, the game is up, and two women’s lives are forever changed.
