Book Review: My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade

Katie Donovan meets Matt Jarreau when he decides to take on a job of restoring her grandmother’s house. He is very withdrawn and seems sad inside and she is curious to find out what happened to him. After somebody tells her about the hardships he has faced in his life she takes on a challenge to bring him out of his shell. Breaking out of his shell is very hard and painful for him but Katie is able to endure how he acts while he is doing it, until he goes back into his shell again and the progress she made with him seems to fade away.

It’s always hard to break through a person’s walls that they have put up to protect themselves but Katie seemed to have a gift of doing this with Matt. Even though all her progress had been lost when she saw that Matt had withdrawn again after she had returned from a trip she tries another method to get him to come out of his shell again. She has no idea why an ordinary girl like her would be able to get through to an unordinary person like him but she tries with everything that she has to do so, which is what kept me so interested throughout this novel. She wasn’t willing to give up on him at certain times but at other times she felt that she needed to.

I received this book free from Bethany House for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
