The beginning of the story described how it came about for Esther to be chosen to interview with the king, what process she went through before she approached the king, and what the king liked about her to allow her to be the queen. I continually noticed Esther’s courage as I read through this book. As the story progressed, I stayed in suspense about what was going to happen next since this was not exactly like the Biblical story of Esther. By the time I finished reading this book I wanted to get out the Bible and read the book of Esther in more detail. I was curious to know what was added to the story and what was the same.
I believe that people who like the book of Esther and Christian/Biblical fiction will enjoy this book.
There is a brief reading group guide in the back of the book that can be used for group and personal reflection.
